Sri Tulsi Exports was started on 15th May 1997 by shifting all the export activities of the parent company Sri Tulsi Arts (Started in the year 1984), Sri Tulsi Exports today exports quality handicrafts and furniture to countries like US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia etc. It is a 100% E.O.U.
Its furniture has lot of demand in the western countries and hence in March 2000 it started its own furniture manufacturing unit in about 9000 sq.ft. area in Guindy Industrial Estate with all types of machines required to make the solid Teak Wood furniture completely in house with about 50 craftsmen working in it.
Sri Tulsi Exports is the only company certified by a US based firm "Rainforest Alliance" for making furniture out of Reclaimed Teak Wood and hence it is environment friendly furniture which is sold as premium product in western countries.
It also has an agreement with a UK based company "Arbor Vetum" to supply these furniture exclusively to them for a period of 2 years (to be renewed later) and in turn promised to place orders worth minimum GBP 80,000.00 per year (Rs.60 Lacs)
In future it is planning to set up a fully automated factory for making Small Teak Wood products for house hold and gifts using the teak off cuts from the existing unit. Already started making them outside in small quantities.
