Company Profile

Lotus and Chrysanthemum represents the "Horizon" and a "rising sun" symbolic of the dawn of a new day and Japan, "The Land of the Rising Sun." The kanji characters within the emblem stand for "hasu" or lotus, and "kiku" or chrysanthemum. The red and white colours of the Japanese flag have been retained as the basic corporate colours since the company's business is related to Japan and the Japanese language and culture.

The brush stroke representing the horizon is derived from Japanese calligraphy and "sumi-e" which is a brush stroke drawing using India-ink: a mixture of lampblack, glue and water.

Lotus & Chrysanthemum (Estd. 1984): Your Window to Japan...... our one- stop portal to the "Land of The Rising Sun."

INDIA AND JAPAN-BRIDGING THE CULTURAL DIVIDE.....

Pioneering a unique concept in cross-cultural language training and cultural awareness, LOTUS & CHRYSANTHEMUM was established in Bangalore in 1984 by H. Ganesh to exclusively deal with fostering business and cultural relations between India and Japan. Since then, L & C has been acting as a specialist organization - the first of its kind in India - serving several Indian industries, trading houses, students and individuals in their varied activities and interests related to Japan, and vice-versa.

"Saying it with flowers......."

L & C represents the flowers of the two nations: LOTUS - India's time-honoured national flower, used widely as a decorative motif in religious and folk art, also considered a seat of learning and CHRYSANTHEMUM -Japan's imperial crest. L & C helps to make the twain meet, bloom and prosper together. In fact, L & C and its Japanese Language School and The Bangalore Chapter of The Ohara School of Ikebana, is in essence a mini-Japan center in Bangalore, India.
